What Must I do to be
saved?

In the Old
Testament, or Covenant, man could only find salvation through the sacrifice of
bulls and goats and the shedding of their blood for a sin offering. However,
under the New Testament, or Covenant, it is declared in
John 3:16
“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever
believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”
Jesus in
giving His life on the cross offered His blood as a sin offering on our behalf.
Let’s examine what you must do to be saved.
(1) You
must realize that you are a sinner.
Romans 3:23,
“For all
have sinned, and come short of the glory of God:” You were born a sinner and
only the grace of God can change that.
(2) You
must realize it is not by how good your are or what you have done.
Ephesians 2:8-9
For by
grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of
God: Not of works, lest any man should boast.
Titus 3:5
Not by
works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved
us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost;
(3) As a
sinner you can come just as you are. It does not matter the sin that you may
have committed. Murder, rape, adultry, theft, or maybe nothing more than you
were just born in sin.
Romans 5:8
“But God
commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died
for us.”
You might
say, “How can God love me?” Peter said in
Acts 10:34
“I
perceive that God is no respecter of persons:” God loves you with an
unconditional love. A love that is beyond our ability to fathom.
But is there any other way?
The
Apostle Peter tells us in
Acts 4:12,
“Neither
is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given
among men, whereby we must be saved.”
Jesus
declared in
John 14:6,
“I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by
me.”
Just
how complicated is coming to Christ?
All you
have to do is ask for forgiveness.
Romans 10:13
“For
whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.”
How do I know God will forgive my sins?
1 John 1:9
“If we
confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse
us from all unrighteousness.”
Then you must turn your back on the ways of sin.
Acts 2:38
“The Peter
said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus
Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall the receive the gift of the Holy
Ghost.”
Repent means to feel sorry for or self-reproachful for what one has done or
failed to do. To change one’s ways. Then the act of water baptism identifies us
with the death, burial and resurrection of our Lord.
Did you know that God has a gift for you when you repent of your sins?
Romans 6:23
“For the
wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ
our Lord.”
Did you know that when you accept Jesus as your Saviour the angles in heaven
rejoice?
Luke 15:10
Likewise, I say unto you, there is joy in the presence of the angels of God over
one sinner that repenteth.
Do you want to accept Jesus as your Lord and Saviour?
Now is the time
2 Corinthians 6:2
(For he
saith, I have heard thee in a time accepted, and in the day of salvation have I
succoured thee: behold, now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of
salvation.)
The Apostle Paul gives this instruction.
Romans 10:10
For with
the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is
made unto salvation.
If you are ready, pray this prayer with me.
Dear Jesus, I am sorry for my sins. I realize that you gave your life for me on
the cross of Calvary. Your blood was shed on my behalf. I ask you to forgive me
for all the sins I have committed, both known and unknown. I ask you to change
my life and to give me life eternal with you. I thank you for what you are doing
for me right now.
Amen.
Now if you have sincerely prayed and ask Jesus into your heart and to forgive
you of your sins, I want to be the first to Welcome you in to the Kingdom of
Heaven.
Jesus told
His disciples.
John 14:2-3
In my Father's house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told
you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I
will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be
also.
Now, find a good, Bible teaching church where you can receive encouragement,
instruction and fellowship.
Hebrews 10:25
Not
forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but
exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching.
2 Peter 3:18
But grow
in grace, and in the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. To him be
glory both now and for ever. Amen.
Now share with us and with others what God has done for you.
